On May 6, the last day of the Golden Week holidays in Japan, Shiraishi Island is holding the inaugural
Run with Kobo Daishi 10k Trail Race (there will also be a 5k course) to raise money to maintain the Shiraishi Pilgrimage, a replica of the 88 Temple Shikoku Pilgrimage. The race, which will take place on a section of this ancient Buddhist pilgrimage route, hopes to raise enough money to maintain the entire 10 k trail and put up signage so tourists can enjoy this historical part of Japanese culture. The race is sponsored by the Moooo! Bar and the Shiraishi Island Tourism Association.
